Holiness and Constant Prayer
Our sainthood depends on our tur...
Our God is an infinite number of things but, in all of them, He is humble. He creates the universe and all that is in it. He creates the earth and all life upon it, He creates mankind and then comes to save us, as a baby.
And as if that’s not humble enough, He gives one woman the choice of whether to have that baby or not. Eventually, she will be The Queen of Heaven and Earth and all Creation but on this day, she is a young lady with a deep and abiding love of God. Today, in Luke we will hear: And the Angel Gabriel was sent to a town of Galilee called Nazareth to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph of the house of David and the virgin’s name was Mary. And, coming to her, said: “Hail, full of Grace, The Lord is with you,”
In her faith, though she is deeply troubled, Mary is able to hear Gabriel as he calms her, and explains:
“Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son,
and you shall name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of David, his father, and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and of his Kingdom there will be no end.”
And then, after Gabriel explains how this will come about, Mary says: “I am the handmaid of The Lord. Be it done unto me according to your word.”
The Angel Gabriel leaves, and with her “yes” all of us are saved. Holy Spirit, living in Mary, fill the hearts of your faithful ones.
Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Our Lord, Jesus, please pray for us.
