Born in Florence in the 13th century, he became a successful merchant but was distressed by the political upheaval that surrounded him at the time and he was not alone.
With six other merchants: Alexis Falconieri, Giovanni Bounogionto, Benedict Della Altella, Bartholomew Amediea, Gerard Scauseteni, and Recoveries Uguccioni, he helped form The Confraternity of The Blessed Mother, also known as The Servites.
They did this after seeing a vision during the Feast of The Assumption. Together they became known as The Seven Holy Founders.
Buonofiglio was the second Prior General of The Servites, and died in 1256, while The Passion was being read.
All seven of The Holy Founders were Canonized in 1887 by Pope Leo XIII.
St. Buonfiglio Monaldo, please pray for us.
