Holiness and Constant Prayer
Our sainthood depends on our tur...
Born in Italy in the third century, Castulus was a convert to Christianity during a dangerous time, the reign of the Roman Emperor Diocletian.
Making his journey with the Lord far more dangerous, was the fact that he was Diocletian’s chamberlain, in charge of managing the Emperor’s household.
But the fearless Castulus was not only a convert, he was constantly working to convert others. With the help of his friend, St. Tiburtius, he led those wanting to become Christians to Pope St. Caius and regularly held religious services, inside the palace of Diocletian.
However, one convert, who rejected his new faith, betrayed Castulus.
In a rage, Diocletian had him tortured and then buried alive in the sand along a Roman highway.
St. Castulus, please pray for us.
