The Feast of St. Firmin and Companions

Near the beginning of the third century Firmus, a Senator in Pamplona Spain, was converted to Christianity by St. Honestus.

St. Saturninus, Bishop of Toulouse, went to Pamplona to Baptize Firmus, and when he got there preached to some 40 thousand people for three days.

Firmus had a son named Firmin who was educated by Honestus and grew up to become a priest.

When he was about 30, Firmin was sent by Honestus on a Mission to preach and evangelize in what is now France.

He travelled across Normandy and for a brief time was imprisoned near Lisieux.

Eventually, he settled in Amiens, where he became the first Bishop.

Firmin had great success there and The Church grew rapidly.

Over time, the pagan temples were all but abandoned which angered the Roman leadership. He was arrested and ordered to pay tribute to the Roman gods but he refused.

Firmin was condemned and executed.

St. Firmin and Companions, please pray for us.
