Holiness and Constant Prayer
Our sainthood depends on our tur...
Born in the third century, Gratianus was a principal in laying the foundation of The Church in France and he was the first Bishop of Tours.
Gauls in that region were tied to superstition and the worship of idols. He explained to them that the plurality of God was impossible and talked about the one, true God inspiring them to a new faith by teaching them and using the gospel.
He spoke of The second coming of Jesus as Judge.
Gratianus was often interrupted during his instruction by harassers and, when denounced to the magistrate, was tortured and threatened with death. But no amount of suffering stopped him and his persistence drew many followers.
At the end of his life, while very sick, Jesus Himself came to Gratianus and brought him Holy Communion.
He died seven days later in 337 AD.
