Holiness and Constant Prayer
Our sainthood depends on our tur...
Born near the beginning of the 4th century in what is now Turkey, when she was still a young lady she converted to Christianity, an act that enraged her father, Africanus, who realized his daughter’s conversion put his career as a Roman bureaucrat in serious jeopardy.
Her conversion was also extremely dangerous because this was during the reign of the Roman Emperor, Diocletian.
Against her will, Juliana’s father promised her in marriage to a Roman Senator named Eleusius but she refused to marry him.
In response, both men had Juliana arrested for being a Christian.
She was imprisoned and brutally tortured.
There were reports that she was seen fighting satan and throwing him to the ground.
Finally, she was sentenced to death, burned at the stake, and then thrown into a cauldron of boiling oil.
St. Juliana, please pray for us.
