Holiness and Constant Prayer
Our sainthood depends on our tur...
Born in Italy in 1653, he was the son of Antonio and Maria Angela Bruni, both of whom died before he was four years old.
After a very difficult childhood, he joined the Franciscans when he was in his late teens and was ordained eight years later taking the name Pacificus.
For several years, Pacificus was a professor, teaching philosophy. However, his ability to preach eventually led him out into the community as a missionary.
Pacificus also spent his life doing severe penance, wearing a hair shirt, but a hair shirt made of iron and eating nothing but bread, soup, and water.
When he was in his mid-30s he became quite ill, losing his ability to see and hear while becoming lame.
Offering his suffering for the conversion of sinners, Pacificus prayed for others who were sick and, as a result, performed many miracles and many people came to him for help and prayer.
He died on this day in 1721.
St. Pacificus, please pray for us.
