Holiness and Constant Prayer
Our sainthood depends on our tur...
Born in the first century, St. Petranilla is believed to be either the actual or adopted daughter of St. Peter.
According to legend, St. Peter cured her of palsy when she was young but when she grew she became so beautiful that Peter asked The Lord to give her a fever and then refused to heal her until her faith was made perfect.
Tradition holds that she refused the offer of a Count, Count Flaccus, and there are accounts that she was martyred during the persecution of Roman Emperor Domitian.
This is also The Feast Day of St. Joan of Arc.
Responding to the voices of St. Michael, St. Catherine of Alexandria and when she was only twelve, Joan led French troops against the English as they recaptured portions of France, allowing Charles VII to be crowned King.
But after being convicted as a heretic in a politically motivated trial, she was burned at the stake on this day in 1431.
St. Petranilla and St. Joan of Arc, please pray for us.
