Holiness and Constant Prayer

Born in Italy in the third century, Hilarious was the second Bishop of Aquileia.
This was during the persecution of the Roman emperor Numerian.
Hilarious had been praying for the conversion of those in his diocese and, specifically, that they would leave behind their worship of pagan gods.
His prayers were powerful, so powerful in fact, that the temples the Romans had erected for these pagan gods, collapsed.
In a rage, Numerian had Hilarious and his Deacon, Tatian, arrested, condemned, and put to death.
Sts. Hilarious and Tatian, please pray for us.
