Born in the 3rd century, he was a Roman citizen and the successor to Pope Dionysius who had helped The Church reorganize during the Roman persecutions.
Pope Felix continued the restoration of The Church and also defended the Divinity of Jesus, the doctrine of The Holy Trinity, and against other heresies.
He also played a key role in retaining and honoring the memories and sacrifices of the early martyrs, making sure their great gift of faith was not lost to time by regularly celebrating mass in the catacombs.
Though history is unclear, some historians think Pope Felix may have been a martyr himself.
He reigned from 269 to 274.
St. Pope Felix, please pray for us.
