June 10 – The Feast of St. Landry

Born near the start of the 6th century, he became a priest. 

In 650, Landry was serving as the Chief Clerk of the Royal Chancellery in Paris when he was elevated to Bishop and almost immediately, trouble followed. 

A severe famine set in, and the sick had nowhere to go. 

In response, Landry sold all of his own possessions and some of the furniture and vessels of The Church to help raise money for those in need. 

Then, he founded the first hospital in Paris and named it after St. Christopher. The hospital exists to this day. 

It’s believed Landry was also behind the construction of Saint Germain l‘Auxerrois (Aww – ser – wah), which became the Church of the Kings of France. 

He died in 661.
